its not global. I think the best combo for a daggar sin pretty much is +15 al chest and legs, poison reducing hands, +1 energy boots, and a mask
it seemed good on a pvp character, unfortunally i didnt get the poison reducing gloves in pve... really really regreting it now.

I have a mix of both. Even when I'm constantly fighting, I hardily get out of my 27 energy. My combo uses no more than 15 energy, mind you. You can calculate what you need, and find a decent mix.
Buy some cheap armour on the Monastery Island, and test it out.

I'll assume you're talking about PvP, because that's the only place where you really need optimal efficiency.
If your assassin and you're being attacked, you shouldn't be attacking, period.
Furthermore, Assassin is an extremely energy intensive profession. If you get DP, it will hurt your offense horribly because you need a certain amount of energy to complete your combos (usually high costing... AoD+Golden Phoenix+Horns of the Ox+Falling Spider+Twisting Fangs = 35 Energy alone, 30 for AoD+Leaping Mantis Sting+Jungle Strike+Twisting Fangs). Not to mention Assassins are vulnerablt to mid combo e-denial.
If you're PvE, get one full set of +Energy armor, one full set of +Health armor (against spike teams), and the chest piece with -Blind duration.

For general pve use, including occasional trying to solo a boss or something which would you guys think would be best? I would think nightstalkers for nearly all I guess, since you'd easily be able to keep up energy just by attacking a mob if it's aggro'd on someone else especially with zealous daggers i'm guessing.

i still find it hard to beleive zelous dagger tangs are worth the -1 degen.
i'd rather use an energy skill.

you serious?
with the Assassins fast attack rate... double strikes and dual attacks... how could a zealous tang not be worth it?

Yep there is NO question that unless you plan to go Deadly Arts the zealous is more than worth it.

Uh. Imho, +15 while attacking works best at keeping me alive, along with the poison reducer. Frankly, because you'll generally be drawing side fire from your targets allies. So as long as you keep attacking you should stay alive long enough to kill and get out.
The idea that if you're being attacked, you shouldn't be attacking is rediculous. The juicy targets are in the middle of the fray, like it or not.
If you don't like risk, that's your business, but you won't be killing anyone important at any critical moment, unless you get lucky.
Then again it depends where you're fighting.
in 4v4, death has more value. You'll have to be more cautious. But that isn't hard due to the low number of possible trouble sources.
in 8v8, death holds value but not as much. A decent 8v8 team will generally have rezzing available in case you make a mistake.
in 12v12, screw death. Hunt your target with the following mantra. "The death of the target is more important then my life." What that means is, if you have enough energy to choose between a heal to survive, or a finishing blow to an important target. The finishing blow gets the energy.

I am still wondering if theirs any mainly pve assassins that would let me know if it's better to go with say all shrouded for +energy incase you need to say pull off an extra shadow refuge and you've been using your combos but not getting lucky crits. Or is the nightstalkers armor a lot better then the extra energy.

i always go with full shrouded, and i won't be surprised if the EvIL and WM assassins are going with full shrouded as well. there's no way they can pull off their energy-heavy combos without the full set.

Full shrouded here though may work in some condition reducing gloves when I care enough.

This is the question now isn't it? A question I don't have an answer to, in my opinion it is personal preference.
I used Nightstalker chest and legs on my first assassin and Shrouded gloves and boots. (deleted him to remake) Even using zealous daggers and a critical strikes skill of 10ish I had trouble keeping up with my skill recharge.
But now that we can cap it Assassin's Promise fixes everything! But I may try full Shrouded with my new assassin, or at least keep it for a long fight.

I think which armor you choose largely depends on how you build and play your assassin.
If you have 13 Critical Strikes, zealous daggers, and use Critical Eye, you really shouldn't need full shrouded to afford your attack combos. There are other energy management skills available to assassins and secondary professions, but it depends on whether you can fit them into your build or not.
On the other hand, full shrouded might be a better idea if you have less than 13 Critical Strikes, use vamp daggers, etc.
If you have a condition removal or reliable monk support, the condition reducer armors are probably not a good choice. In any event, I'm not sure having a 20% reduction on one type of condition is better than having more energy or armor. Same goes for the hp armor. 7e or +15 AL > 35hp
